Stone sculpture in Beaux-Arts Museum in Arras

by Joseph T. Sinclair

My best friend’s son married a French gal. Her parents live in Lille in the north of France. They are both dentists. They have a dentist friend who has partnered with another person to buy a château in northern France at Frevent about 40 miles from Lille. It was at the chateau that the bride and groom were to be married. My wife and I having been invited to the wedding thought what better excuse to spend money we didn’t have than to go to a French wedding and then on to Paris.

The trip to France for me was one ongoing photo op from minute to minute. Even though we were there for 16 days I could not consume every photo op I saw. But I did have my smartphone with me unlocked to accept a French Orange SIMM, which allowed me to make phone calls during my 16-day visit and which also enabled me to take phone camera photos. Here are several from northern France.

After the wedding, we were off to Paris for the remainder of our trip. Rather than bore you with personal snapshots, I include below some of the photos I took of tourist attractions. But I tried to take unusual photos of typical attractions.

In addition, I love to take pictures of works of art. In Paris, most of the museums allow photos so long as you don’t use a flash.

All in all, a trip to a place like Paris, or whatever venue gets your adrenaline pumping, is a great opportunity to have fun taking photos.
