The dif\u00adfer\u00adence between that arti\u00adcle and this one is that the pri\u00ador blog is about a club at home. But what about when you go on vaca\u00adtion at a cer\u00adtain place and stay for a rea\u00adson\u00adable time? Why not join a pho\u00adto club there?<\/p>\n

I spend sev\u00ader\u00adal weeks each sum\u00admer away from home in Pagosa Springs, Col\u00adorado where I belong to the Pagosa Springs Pho\u00adtog\u00adra\u00adphy Club. The pho\u00adtos in this issue are phone cam\u00adera pho\u00adtos from the Pagosa Springs area. One of my pho\u00adtos is hang\u00ading in a local restau\u00adrant togeth\u00ader oth\u00ader club pho\u00adtos. In addi\u00adtion, I go on pho\u00adto field trips with the club.<\/p>\n

Many mem\u00adbers of pho\u00adto clubs shoot with phone cam\u00aderas occa\u00adsion\u00adal\u00adly. A club exhi\u00adbi\u00adtion is like\u00adly to have a few, if not many, phone cam\u00adera photos.<\/p>\n

Pho\u00adto clubs typ\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly have low dues. About $20 is aver\u00adage. You have to ask your\u00adself, what can I get from a pho\u00adto club away from home that\u2019s worth $20? That depends. The best way to find out is to go to the pho\u00adto club\u2019s web\u00adsite. The pho\u00adto club web\u00adsite will like\u00adly have a sched\u00adule of events includ\u00ading meet\u00adings and outings.<\/p>\n

If your vaca\u00adtion tim\u00ading is right to attend the club\u2019s month\u00adly meet\u00ading, what can you get out of the meet\u00ading? Well, most pho\u00adto clubs have friend\u00adly mem\u00adbers. You may be able to find a new friend who is eager to go out shoot\u00ading and uses your pres\u00adence as an excuse to put togeth\u00ader a short field trip\u2014or even a long field trip. Thus, you not only find a new friend but also an unpaid pri\u00advate guide to the local area, a guide who hap\u00adpens to be a photographer.<\/p>\n

What if your tim\u00ading is right to be able to par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpate in a club field trip? Well, as a mem\u00adber of the club, you are enti\u00adtled to go on field trips just like any oth\u00ader mem\u00adber. The field trip will be led by a club mem\u00adber who knows the area, will keep par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants safe, and is like\u00adly to be a skilled pho\u00adtog\u00adra\u00adph\u00ader. In oth\u00ader words, you will get what you get from a com\u00admer\u00adcial out\u00adfit\u00adter run\u00adning a pho\u00adto field trip. The out\u00adfit\u00adter will charge you from $50-$250 a day. Typ\u00adi\u00adcal pho\u00adto club field trips are free or have a nom\u00adi\u00adnal cost.<\/p>\n

There are also com\u00admer\u00adcial pho\u00adto work\u00adshops trips typ\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly instruct\u00aded by a pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal pho\u00adtog\u00adra\u00adph\u00ader. Many such work\u00adshops are essen\u00adtial\u00adly field trips, albeit accom\u00adpa\u00adnied by instruc\u00adtion. Such field work\u00adshops cost from $100-$400 a day. A field trip con\u00adduct\u00aded by skilled pho\u00adto club mem\u00adber (and accom\u00adpa\u00adnied by oth\u00ader skilled pho\u00adto club mem\u00adbers) is not so much dif\u00adfer\u00adent. But the cost is much less.<\/p>\n

Hence, the ques\u00adtion is not whether to join a pho\u00adto club at your trav\u00adel des\u00adti\u00adna\u00adtion or not. The ques\u00adtion is, what does such a club have to offer dur\u00ading the time you\u2019ll be at the des\u00adti\u00adna\u00adtion? And you can eas\u00adi\u00adly deter\u00admine that by check\u00ading out the club\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

You can take this idea to the extreme. You can iden\u00adti\u00adfy var\u00adi\u00adous loca\u00adtions along your vaca\u00adtion trav\u00adel route at which you would like to take pho\u00adtos. Then you can line up local pho\u00adto club field trips for the same days that you\u2019ll be pass\u00ading through those par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar loca\u00adtions. You may not even need to join a local pho\u00adto club to go on local field trips. Ask each club if they will allow you to go on field trips because you are a mem\u00adber of a pho\u00adto club where you live, a cour\u00adtesy that many clubs will extend to you.<\/p>\n

This is a lit\u00adtle bit more dif\u00adfi\u00adcult to arrange but think of the mon\u00adey you\u2019ll save over hir\u00ading local out\u00adfit\u00adters. And you\u2019ll have a bet\u00adter oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adty to get inter\u00adest\u00ading pho\u00adtos than if you tried to shoot at such loca\u00adtions by your\u00adself. Local knowl\u00adedge is very valuable.<\/p>\n

The best sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion is if you go back to the same des\u00adti\u00adna\u00adtion year after year for your vaca\u00adtion. You can make new friends in the local pho\u00adto club, friends that you will see year after year and not only enjoy going on club field trips but also social\u00adiz\u00ading and tak\u00ading part in oth\u00ader club activities.<\/p>\n
