Today you can get mem\u00ado\u00adry cards that will store more of your pho\u00adtos than you can take in a week or a month. So long as you trans\u00adfer your pho\u00adtographs from your phone cam\u00adera to your com\u00adput\u00ader or tablet occa\u00adsion\u00adal\u00adly, you\u2019re prob\u00ada\u00adbly nev\u00ader going to run out of space to store your photos.<\/p>\n

But bat\u00adter\u00adies are a dif\u00adfer\u00adent con\u00adsid\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion. There\u2019s no bat\u00adtery that will pro\u00advide you with pow\u00ader for as many pho\u00adtographs as you can take in a full day or on a trip of a cou\u00adple days. Pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal pho\u00adtog\u00adra\u00adphers load up on extra bat\u00adter\u00adies so that they nev\u00ader run out of pow\u00ader when they go shoot\u00ading, even for one day. In oth\u00ader words, an extra bat\u00adtery should be part of your stan\u00addard equip\u00adment for using your smart phone as an all-around com\u00adpe\u00adtent camera.<\/p>\n

Buy\u00ading an extra bat\u00adtery from man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adtur\u00ader of your phone can be expen\u00adsive. Yet you can find bat\u00adter\u00adies man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adtured by third-par\u00adty par\u00adties that are not only inex\u00adpen\u00adsive but easy to find on eBay and oth\u00ader such online places. While a pro pho\u00adtog\u00adra\u00adph\u00ader may need three or four extra bat\u00adter\u00adies for his three-pound pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal cam\u00adera, you\u2019ll prob\u00ada\u00adbly need only one extra bat\u00adtery to ensure that you have enough pow\u00ader for almost any shoot\u00ading you\u2019ll do in one day.<\/p>\n

You also have to fig\u00adure out how to charge such an extra bat\u00adtery. Point-and-shoot cam\u00aderas come with bat\u00adtery charg\u00aders, which make it easy to charge the bat\u00adter\u00adies you aren\u2019t using in your cam\u00adera. But smart phones don\u2019t come with such an acces\u00adso\u00adry. The only way to charge your extra phone bat\u00adtery is to install the extra bat\u00adtery in the phone and charge it in the phone. This makes it awk\u00adward to charge the extra bat\u00adtery. But if you want to ensure you always have enough pow\u00ader to shoot with your phone cam\u00adera, this is some\u00adthing you need to do.<\/p>\n

Or, you can buy a phone bat\u00adtery charg\u00ader, even though one doesn\u2019t come with the phone\u2014again avail\u00adable on eBay or such places. You can even buy a solar charg\u00ader for phone batteries.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong>  iPhones don\u2019t have batteries that you can easily remove or replace. Thus, you will need a portable battery charger for an iPhone.<\/h6>\n

Anoth\u00ader way to get extra pow\u00ader is to get a device that is a sep\u00ada\u00adrate bat\u00adtery and inte\u00adgrat\u00aded charg\u00ader (portable bat\u00adtery charg\u00ader, portable pow\u00ader bank, pow\u00ader sta\u00adtion, mini pow\u00ader bank, exter\u00adnal back\u00adup bat\u00adtery). From such a device, you can recharge the bat\u00adtery in your phone. You sim\u00adply car\u00adry this extra bat\u00adtery device with you, and when you run out of juice in your phone, you plug your phone into this bat\u00adtery just as if you were using the elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty at home.<\/p>\n

The prob\u00adlem with this recharg\u00ading tech\u00adnique is that it takes time to recharge the bat\u00adtery in your phone. If you\u2019ve run out of  juice and you need to take pho\u00adtos imme\u00addi\u00adate\u00adly, this is not a tech\u00adnique that will help. It will be use\u00adful in mul\u00adti-day trip, how\u00adev\u00ader, as you can recharge your phone bat\u00adtery each evening.<\/p>\n

Have I ever run out of bat\u00adtery pow\u00ader in a day of shoot\u00ading with my phone cam\u00adera? The answer to that is, no. The prob\u00adlem is, I\u2019ve nev\u00ader gone out and shot all day with my phone cam\u00adera. If I was going to go out and pur\u00adpose\u00adly shoot all day, I would opt for my three-pound pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal cam\u00adera. Going some\u00adplace and shoot\u00ading all day is a real com\u00admit\u00adment, and you usu\u00adal\u00adly will want to have your most ver\u00adsa\u00adtile cam\u00adera with you.<\/p>\n

Nonethe\u00adless, I\u2019ve shot pho\u00adtographs for as much as a half-day with my phone cam\u00adera. So far I haven\u2019t run out of juice. But if I was going to go out and pur\u00adpose\u00adly shoot all day on a pho\u00adto shoot with my phone cam\u00adera, I would take my extra phone battery.<\/p>\n

In any event, all this con\u00adver\u00adsa\u00adtion about an extra bat\u00adtery leads you to remind your\u00adself that you should ful\u00adly charge your phone every night. That way when you leave in the morn\u00ading, your phone will always have a ful\u00adly charged bat\u00adtery ready to take plen\u00adty of photos.<\/p>\n

The delight\u00adful thing about phone cam\u00aderas is that you always have a cam\u00adera with you, assum\u00ading you car\u00adry your phone at all times. The con\u00adve\u00adnient thing about phone cam\u00aderas is that you can use them for unan\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpat\u00aded shoot\u00ading. That unan\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpat\u00aded shoot\u00ading might be one shot or might be 100 shots\u2014or it might be 1,000 shots. The ques\u00adtion is, will your bat\u00adtery be up to the task? If you didn\u2019t charge it the night before, it may not be.<\/p>\n
